The gift that keeps on giving

As a proud alum, David D. Le Norman is passionate about giving back to the University of Wyoming.

His remarkable contributions have propelled the University of Wyoming College of Engineering and Physical Sciences into a nationally recognized institution of academic excellence and world-class research institution.

Over the past year, the Le Norman Endowed fund supported two research faculty positions as well as 10 Ph.D. students, who worked closely with two of the tenured faculty members of the Department of Energy and Petroleum Engineering. This large research team worked on multiple projects, published over 20 conference proceedings and journal papers and submitted several research and industry proposals. The faculty supported through this fund delivered 3 courses for undergrad students and the teaching assistant support provided by Ph.D. students further enhanced their learning.

In 2022, the first-ever Le Norman Endowed Leadership Chair of Petroleum Engineering was appointed – award-winning Professor, Vamegh Rasouli.

And did you know, the Dean’s Suite in the Engineering Education and Research Building was named after the Le Norman’s? This new, state-of-the-art engineering facility fosters innovation and collaboration among students and faculty. The 110k sq. feet facility was the most ambitious construction project in the university’s history!

We are thankful our founder is making such significant contributions to the next generation of petroleum engineers! Investing in the education and training of future professionals ensures the continued advancement and sustainability of the oil and gas industry.
